exporting tiffs of my movie

So i have a 720p movie that was shot in DVCPRO HD, i have it in FCP right now ready to go. I need to export it to a tiff sequence so we can bring it into our Avid at school and export it to the correct decks. The project is 960x720, not 1280x720, thats a weird FCP thing i've never understood. So I go to export through COMPRESSOR and when I do that as a tiff seuqnce with NO compression whatsoever, the files come out TINY in size. Like 850kb each. This can't be right because the tiffs we exported from AVID to bring into FCP were 11.9 MB each! So I can't get compressor to do it. well when I export a tiff using quicktime conversion it comes out squeezed and it says its 960x720. So then I duplicate my sequence and change the settings to say 1280x720 image. but then when I try and export that i get "GENERAL ERROR."

what do I do?

OH, and could I bring a portable DVCPROHD deck to my house and export from my Mac Pro? or do I need a special video card for that? like a black magic or something (my specs on my computer are: quad 2.66, 3 gigs of ram, 512 meg ATI RADEON)

Panasonic AJ-HD1200A or AJ-HD1400 VTRs. You will want one of those two guys. You can export out to a DVCProHD cassette with those guys. If frame accuracy isn't a huge concern then you can get away by doing it with firewire. If you put a 2-pop in, if the overall frame accuracy drifts, it can then be easily recovered. This is not a video/audio sync, its frame accuracy, so not a huge deal unless you're giving the tape to a broadcaster.

The DVCPro codec does the whole 960 thing. It is still always actually going to go out to tape and the like at 1280. There are various discussions about this around I think if you google it.

Compressor should do the TIFFs for you fine. But you might need to go in and adjust your TIFF export settings. When I just used a TIFF preset it didn't come out to my needs. I had to create a new custom preset to get a proper 1280x720 frame size and the like output. It is doable though.

cheers.

but no matter what I change in the settings for a new TIFF setting, the image in the preview is always more pixelated than the original. I just need to do an exact tiff export. in Avid this is as simple as going to export, tiff sequence, no compression. how is there no simple way to do such a simple task?

also what do you mean by frame accuracy? i am trying to put a master copy of my film to tape so it has to be a perfect copy.
