Exporting thru Firewire Audio

Hey,
All you experts in Premiere Pro, I need your help. Maybe this has been discussed already.

I have a project with mutiple clips on the timeline. Most of them have effects on the audio (gain, noise reduction, fill right, etc)

The clips don't play back with good audio always. Sometimes its muffled, then straightens out. When I go in and change my "Playback Settings" to external device audio so I can capture thru the firewire card, I get lots of pops and crackles.

I have a P4 3.2ghz and 1.5 gig of ram. A Belkin oem firewire card and I'm capturing to a Panasonic DVCPRO vtr (AJ-SD255).

The Audio is noticeably worse capturing thru the firewire than when playing "Desktop Audio". Incompatible motherboard/audio card? Not enough Ram? Use a different Firewire card?

Anyone had these issues?

THanks a HEAP for your help!!

Export your audio to make sure its a computer performance issue. If it is its probably your cpu thats 2 slow. Is it an older p4? what FSB? Premiere rpo takes upa lot of cpu power. You can also try using a graphics card that can help take the strain off of the cpu by use of the GPU. Also what speed hard drives to you have? If you are just getting frustrated when trying to backup you footage to a tape you can try not enabling desktop preiveiwing when outputing through firewire and also setting your windows settings for best preformance instead of best appearance. Another option is just using scenalyzer live to export your footage (it is significantly less taxing on the cpu and should have any problems with it) Unfortunalty premiere is quit power hungry and the first ot go is audio whihc isn't as apparent than a frame skipping. I run a 2.8 pentium d with 800FSB and a graphics card that has GPU acceleration/2.0 gb ram/ 7,200rpm sata hd and I am doing just fine for regular dv footage with power to spare.
