exporting still frame then importing results in different color

this is very frustrating. Sometimes I want to export a still frame and import it to extend an unsteady shot but the color is always different and I have to spend a long time trying to color correct it to match.

Does anyone know why it exports in a different hue or whatever? It's just slightly off, but enough to notice a random color change.

thanks

This is because FCP is interpreting the native gamma of the still frame differently from your video. When you import the still frame into your media browser (top-left), right-click the image and click "properties." Among various other things you will see a gamma setting. It may be set to 1.8, 2.2, or something else. Change it to a different setting and see the results when you drag it into your sequence. You'll find your correct gamma setting fairly quickly.
