Exporting Std DV for Archiving afer trimming in CS4

I'm cleaning up all my old Std DV footage before archiving on BluRay for future editing. Whats the best settings to use in Media Encoder to retain the original quality as it came off the tape when first imported into Premiere. Obviously I dont want any quality loss.

Just to see what would happen I tried exporting to P2 DvcPro. Encoder goes through the motion and the drive is accessed, but after completion there is nothing saved on the drive. i would have thought if it was a silly choice Premiere would not allow it.

I would appreciate any advice on this.

Ok , just answered my second question myself, I see Premiere creates a "CONTENTS" folder on the drive you select and saves the mxf files there. (found a dozen files there from all my tries)

I would still like some advice on the first question though please. (Exporting for archive after trimming)

It sounds like you aren't using Project Manager. With it, you can save a trimmed project with only the source files that you used.

PROJECT>PROJECT MANAGER > Create New Trimmed Project > Exclude Unused Clips >
You still have to copy over any stills that you used. It doesn't copy over any of the preview files, so you have to rerender. It will tell you how much space you have saved.
