Hi, so I have final cut pro 7. I have a hour long video of Standard defination footage, was filmed with sony vx1000. Im trying to figure out the best way to export the video for a dvd. When i export in full quality it is a really big file like 175gbs or soemthing crazy. Am i doing something wrong? can someoone that has exported a hour long video for dvd tell me the best way to do it? THanks ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

If you have final cut studio, then you have Compressor. Drag that 175gb movie into Compressor and slap a DVD preset on it. Bam! Your output file will be about 2-4gb. That's simplifying it quite a bit, but it sounds like that's all you're really looking for.

Does anyone have a solution for me to export this the right way for a dvd, having a hard time. Trying to get this done before a deadline thanks any help is much appreciated. Thanks

File > Export > Quicktime Movie
Setting: Current Settings
Include: Audio and Video

Make sure that "Make Movie Self Contained" is checked. You want it to be self contained.

That's all you need to get a .mov that is full res.
Drag that .mov to Compressor. Apply DVD preset.

yea i already did that but i did it again to double check so i followed what u said and file comes out 12.86gb which is ok but the footage in the file got sped up its a little faster then it was. i dont know why this is happenign but i cant use sped up footage, its a sports video so it doesnt look right at all. i dunno why this is happening but when i export anything in quicktime movie it does this....if i use quicktime conversion it doesnt speed it up...

and what compressor and are talking about to use after and what dvd preset?

thanks

no matter what setting i use in quicktime movie the footage gets sped up. why is this happening? when i use quicktime conversion it is not sped up but the whole file size is huge.

I think you may have a problem in your timeline settings. Your edited piece should not have a different frame rate in Quicktime playback then it has in the timeline, so it's possible that somewhere you have a mismatched frame rate. Also, I think your shift key on your keyboard may be broken.
