Exporting highest quality possible...

Hi.

With which settings I can export the highest quality possible with the Adobe Media Encoder? I mean, for example if I have 20 mins footage that I want to burn on the DVD...How do I know that I have the highest quality possible if the disc space is not a problem? Should I use CBR or VBR? Is there any difference between them, if I use very high settings with CBR?

Do I have to calculate somehow the whole bitrate that is going on...audio and video together...? What is the limit?

Thanks. :dankk2:

With a 20 minute TRT you will not benefit much from using VBR encoding. Assuming that you are using Dolby Digital for the audio content, you can push the video data rate to 8.5 Mb/s for the best that is possible from MPEG2 encoding. The DVD specification allows for a peak data rate of 9.6 Mb/s which includes audio, video and sub-picture streams. Due to overhead, this actually nets out to about 9.3 Mb/s with most navigation streams.

Keep in mind that some, very poor quality DVD players may not handle this high of data rate. For the widest compatibility, 7.5 MB/s is a good upper data rate limit.
