exporting hdv project to dvd

. Do I need hd dvds for the project to be seen as hd on the screen when screen is hd friendly?? I will be shooting my short film very soon. I kind of want to know how that works. HD stuff is so confusing. I will be shooting HDV.
 
Regular DVD's only hold 4.7 gigs of information, not nearly enough for HD. The new technologies, HD DVD and Blu Ray are the only way to produce a high definition DVD, otherwise you have to compress to standard def to put on a regular DVD. Blu Ray has the most industry support (including panasonic) and will probably win out the war against HD DVD.

You can always export your finished video in high def to a miniDV tape if you are shooting HDV, then you can play the tape through an hd deck into an HD display.
