When exporting the premiere has couple decoders to use . Which one should I choose I want the file to have highest quality possible. Also can i get highest quality in mov file so i can watch it on quicktime??

Hey Jade what should i export the file as if i'm going to have it encoded in CCE? Somebody told me that exporting as DV AVI is bad, so whats the best quality i can get when exporting from premiere 1.5?

how do i export HDV from premiere 2.0 so that I have all ratio and hd look after exporting

Exporting a dvi is best for bringing the video into a dvd authoring program like encore. The only quicktime format that looks good out of premiere is the uncompressed. If you need to export a compressed file for web or whatever, windows media looks the best. If you want to have a compressed quicktime file, the best thing to do is get quicktime pro and do the encoding in that...it always comes out cleaner than premiere.

If you shot in hdv at 16:9....then export a 16:9 video if you want it as standard def.

I too am having a problem.

When i go to export > Movie

there is no option for HDV, only SD 720 x 480... how do i export as HD again?

How are people archiving their projects? Is tape the only option? I want to store on hard drive for now and need to know what is the best file format to store for possible reedit. I store DV as windows DV AVI but what do you save HDV as? I don’t see any obvious choices.

I'd say the only obvious choice to me for now is an .m2t file I think premier can only export it that way with the Cineform plug in. Not sure if vegas can do it without.

Depending on what kind of HDV footage you're exporting, if you're using .m2t's to edit (must be slow) then export .m2t from Vegas I think you can do it with ersion 7. With Premier, it's a different story you need the Cineform Aspect HD plug in, in order for it to be faster and cross NLE friendly, the Cineform intermediate .avi files are fast and have a very good minimum loss codec.

the HDV files are from the canon A1, so they are Mpeg2

does that help? Do i still need a third party program to export the HDV footage without re comporessing it?

Well theoretically no, you an export uncompressed but you'll need storage...alot of storage. For exporting .m2t I think you'll need the CineForm Aspect HD plug in. I'm on the same ship man, I have to downconvert my footage right now and I can't figure out how it works :( But Cineform is definitely a must down the road.
