Exporting from FCP timeline to tape

Are there any preparations on must make in FCP to export back to camera & tape? I haven't done it in forever and seems like I use to just hook up camera in vtr and play the sequence and it would appear in the camera and I would record.

This freakin' f***ing thing!!! I work for about 3 hours, trying all kinds of things, even my old Pana DVX100, finally get it to show up in the Pana's lcd by View>External Video>All frames, record a little a couple times to get the hang of where it begins on tape (neither Print to Video or Edit to Tape work), I change tapes to make a final and now again it won't work.

The problem seems to be no matter how many times I go View>External Video>All frames, it won't stick. I can go right back to External Video and it'll say Off instead of All frames, I change it, check, same thing: Off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, tried that too, bout a 100 times. It seems very finicky, does what it pleases when it pleases there's no logic as to why. Tried using both Canon HV20 and DVX100.
No dif.

I appreciate the tips!!

Apple+0, check your timeline setting, from your part of the world should be NTSC...... then Audio/Video setting check the capture setting NTSC fireware, fireware to DVX100 DVX100 should be set view not capture... FCP - view- playback see if you set to NTSC fireware .... then refresh AV device... GOOD LUCK, it happens to me , sometime I reset everything, and restart FCP and computer even. .... hope it works mate.

May be a silly question, Is your dvx in playback mode? Not camera mode?

Are you working on a NTSC DV timeline?

Maybe it's a bad FW cable, hence the reason it won't work on other cameras.
