Exporting from FCP and not getting exact colors

this is a screen shot of a long shot from a commercial i'm working on and i notice in FCP the sky looks a lot dark blue but after exporting it the sky comes out aqua blue.

i noticed this on my last short film also even when i exported for DVD using FCP's preset export option for exporting. The sky was always aqua blue.

how can i get the quicktime files to be the exact colors to match what i am seeing inside FCP?

What are you exporting as ? There is a known colour issue/bug in H264-encoded compressions, which is something to do with monitor colour profiles. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=992387&tstart=0

Do you use Compressor? If not, you might try it - you get a before/after comparison.

thanks sounds like they are having the same problem but oddly enough out of all those posts nobody ever came up with a solution.... :huh:

It's interesting because my short recently had this problem. The color looked great on the macbook and when I exported it (compressor) and watched on a LCD TV or a pc, it looked desaturated. You could also read background that was not there in the original edit.
