Exporting for broadcast.

I'm running premiere 1.5 and have had some problems exporting an uncompressed interlaced quicktime movie file.

When I set it to lower fields in the video option it seems to be doing progessive anyway. Got any suggestions?

Re: Exporting for broadcast.

Need a little more info...

Is your source file an uncompressed quicktime in the timeline or is it DV an you would like to export your timeline to an uncompressed quicktime?

Re: Exporting for broadcast.

DV to uncompressed quicktime. I don't have a beta deck so I have to hand it over to the stations. They prefer a uncompressed INTERLACED quicktime file. But I'm just having a problem getting it to be interlaced when I shoot in 24p

Re: Exporting for broadcast.

Premiere actually really is not the best app for doing that.  I'm not sure how the 24P export option works but since you are shooting in DV, normally what works best is if you export a DV lower field file, (720 x 480 Microsoft DV AVI... Lower Field first) then import the file into After Effects.  From there export a quicktime file with the animation codec at a million + colors.  This is the only way I know how to do it really but unless you have after effects I'm not sure you can do that from Premiere.  Premiere is not that great for anything besides editing DV (and of course exporting mpeg2, windows media and other web compressed files.)   Even graphics, it makes more sense to produce them in After Effect so you can bypass transfering them to DV on output.  Not sure if this makes any sense... it's kind of a complex process at first until you get the hang of it.

Re: Exporting for broadcast.

hmm, I never thought of exporting lower field, and then taking it into after effects to finish the process. I'll try that and see what happens.

Thanks a bunch.
