Exporting for After Effects

I have a handful of shots that I want to upload to an FX guy's ftp, but I want to make sure I get them exported properly.

I shot in 24p on the DVX in squeeze mode, and I captured to FCP using the DV NTSC 48khz Anamorphic preset with great results. I put all the effects shots into one sequence, and I've exported them out (as Quicktime Movie) with current settings. The resulting QuickTime file looks great, and is a little over 5 gigabytes in size. The only hitch is that the footage now has letterbox bars at the top and bottom. Will those bars still be there if he imports the footage into AE? I don't know if that matters, but I would think you wouldn't want them.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

...or an editing forum. Most people here tend to focus on shooting.

Um -- it's weird that you have the letterboxing in the first place. You shouldn't since it's anamorphic footage. Check your sequence settings - make sure you have "Anamorphic 16:9" checked.

Well, the footage comes in just fine. When I watch it in the Viewer there's no letterboxing, but it shows up in the Canvas when I have clips on the sequence timeline. I'll double check my settings I guess.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's definitely your sequence settings, then. Make sure "Anamorphic 16:9" is checked under Sequence > Settings...
