Alright so maybe I was looking for the right thing in google, but I havn't had much luck finding an answer to this; so hopefully someone here can help. What do I neend if I want to export a video from final cut as a FLV. I would normally just use h.264 but I got a specific request for a flv.

Thanks guys,
Matt

You cannot export it directly out of FCP. Look for a program like sorenson squeeze or Flash itself from Adobe.

I did find this post:

Hi there,
I export to Flash FLV regularly, with great results (even better than Quicktime h264 when dealing with lots of motion).

Here's what to do:

1. Export from FCP using File>Export>Quicktime (not the conversion one). Make sure to check the box for "Make self-contained".
2. Open the QT file using Quicktime Pro (need Pro to export) and purchase Filx's on2 exporter (http://www.on2.com/technology/flix-features). Sounds like you have this already.
3. In Quicktime Pro, choose File>Export.
Settings to use: "High Quality", MP3 128 bit for audio, I resize to 500x380 for the web, and make sure to lower the frame rate to 15fps.

I know you probably don't think you want to lower the frame rate from the original 30, but this is the single best thing you can do to make a smooth and high quality FLV or QT file.

I have also had success converting using Flash 8's FLV converter (comes with Flash). Check out my post here for details: http://www.dvcreators.net/discuss/sh...ht=alpha+flash

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you need a URL of a finished example.

I have the On2Flix software. It's pricey, but very effective. I export a quicktime file from FCP, import into On2Flix, make my settings, and then export to flv. Their is one thing I would suggest on the setting that make your file size smaller and run smoother on a server such as brightcove, under the video tab, you have a tab for video filters, this is where you can select to deinterlace. This will help the performance of the flv file a whole better.

I don't know if this helps but you can export from FCP 6 to FLV via File>Export>Quicktime Conversion: choose FLV from the drop down menu. I never noticed this option in my earlier version of FCP. I have never exported to flash and I don't know if this will work the way you want it to.
