Hey guys. This may silly questions to you but I have to start somewhere. When I wnat to export clips from say Combustion to FCP what is the quickest proper procedure? Now once I'm done with that, how do I prepare my timeline for the highest resolution to export to DVD or back to tape ? ( edited clips at 20:1 for space )

Does it means you used Offline RT ? if it is so (or if you used anything but straight DV 100% quality) you must recapture at Full DV Quality.

Once you have you full quality DV timeline just export with Compressor.

To go from Combustion to FCP, you don't want the quickest but the max quality method which is
- Using Uncompressed / Lossless codec or export Image Sequence (Targa for example)
or

- Using DVNTSC/PAL codec at full res

NB: using heavily compressed stuff to perform razzle dazzle in Combustion is pointless, use Full Res.

Does this mean that I have to recapture clips at full res or can i just export the timeline at full res ?

Re: Exporting FCP

If your edited material isn't Full Rez, exporting it Full Rez will not make it better quality !

so yes, if your edited material isn't Full Rez, recapture and then export.
