I originally posted this in the HVX200 forum, but no responses after several days.
I've been successful creating SD DVD's from HD footage but I haven't been successful when using DVCPro50 footage.
I record 16:9 DVCPro50 at 480 30p on HVX200p. Log and Transfer into FCP6.06. Drop a clip into the timeline, so it asks if I want to match the sequence settings to the footage and I click "ok".
Do all my edits, render the sequence, watch on an external monitor. looks good.
Now, I export Quicktime reference movie, drop it into Compressor Best 90 SD DVD, import assets into Studio Pro, simulate and burn. The resulting DVD isn't even close to the quality of the raw footage nor the rendered FCP timeline.
I suspect my Export Quicktime settings are to blame, but I've made a half dozen coasters trying different settings with no improvement. I appreciate all the help.
