Exporting chapter markers for Compressor

How do I put chapter markers in the timeline of FCP that will export to Compressor and actually work? I always put in chapter markers and I export a MPEG2 to the hard drive, then I import it into DVD Studio Pro and make the chapter markers again. So now I need to see if there is a way to do the markers in the FCP timeline, export the MPEG2 and import it into Compressor for a DVD.

Hit the m key twice... once to place a marker... the second time to open the marker dialog box. Then click "Add Chapter Marker" and it'll insert a <CHAPTER> in the custom field. Then title the marker for whatever you want your chapter called. I always export using quicktime to save my markers and have a full quality master copy then convert using compressor using it's DVD quality settings.

Thanks Joseph. So Quicktime automatically saves the markers? Also, I thought MPEG2 was the only way to go for DVD? Are you making SD DVD's? Mine are usually 2 hours. Love the llama, my wife is from Peru. You do not see them as commonly as people think as they are in the mountians and the zoos.

You have to specify it when you save out. You can do the same going through compressor as well... give this article a read. http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/exporting_markers_from_fcp.html

The way I described above is generally just how I do things cause I like a master copy on my disk. I keep all my masters in one spot. Get rid of all my raw footage from time to time on my drives. And by get rid of... i really mean offload to drives. I keep the masters files for each cut separate just in case I need to access them (it makes it easier to just have them all in one place). I also keep Master DVD copies of everything I burn as well... so I can easily replicate or pull off the DVD if I need to.

Enough workflow... do you have any llama pictures?
