I was given this powerpoint presentation and screen steps presentation as .dv files and i needed to sync them all together with a voice over and export to something that could be downloaded off of the company's FTP site. i tried exporting as a low quality H.264 quicktime movie and the quality came out pretty good aside from the fades that were there to begin with and the fact that the video was considerably washed out, but the file came out to around 2 gigabytes. this could take hours to download.
the next thing i tried was re exporting a small section (just for sake of testing it out) as .dv and importing to sorenson squeeze to convert to a flash video, and though the file came out to less than a quarter of the h.264 equivalent, there wasn't even an application that i could open it up with.
so i was wondering if there's any codec that actually can recognize long frames and compress the video taking those into consideration, which would effectively make the video (aside from the screen steps) an image sequence, and where i could get it if its not already there. the compression doesn't necessarily need to perform well during high amounts of motion, but it needs to be very sharp on still frames. i have sorenson squeeze and quicktime conversion (with FCP), but my copy of compressor isn't functioning.
