Exporting a 2-hour movie?

Hey, what ways are there to export my movie (which is 2 hours) in a fast (but sensible) way and concurrently maintain high quality for DVD burning (sending to festivals). I use FCP 7, a 2TB external that only has 500GB free now, and my Mac has 4GB RAM memory. But exporting takes an hour -- give or take -- for a ten minute clip at the best quality. I am wondering if there's a way to speed things up, especially when the movie is 2 hours and I don't like leaving my Mac on all day because I know it'll overheat and who knows what kinda problems would rise. So if you could assist in this question, that'd be wonderful. Cheers.

Here's a trailer to my movie that I'm trying to get out there, enjoy:

if nothing is in the way of the ventilation system/fan, there should be no worry. is the room itself hot all the time, maybe add any available fan in the right direction to help disperse the heat. if it's a laptop, lift it up without getting in the way of the ventilation using a laptop stand or a book on a hard surface.

Are you exporting at the same quality of the sequence? It does nothing to export at a higher quality. Are you on a laptop? Anyway, the fastest export is at the same quality as the sequence. Then use compressor to make DVD files. I've found that's quicker than exporting DVD files off the timeline.

Hey. What do you mean "exporting same quality of the sequence?" When I export, I move the tab to "best encode" rather than faster "encode." Is that what you're talking about? It's not a laptop. It's a desktop -- I think. It's a Mac Mini. So I don't know where that falls. But anyway, are you saying I send it straight to Compressor for optimal 120 minute best DVD setting rather than exporting it into a .mov file? Thanks

I'm in FCP7. I do File / Export, and choose "Current Settings". Then I take that file and drop it into Compressor.
