Exporting 720p HD to DV

I have footage from a HVX200 shot at 720 24PN. I finished editing and the client wants it in DV format. When I render it down to that it looks like crap, plus I cant get it to letterbox, it just fills the whole screen with everything looking skinny. What are the best settings to use when exporting to DV, keeping it letterboxed in a 4:3 screen, and getting the best quality?

Thanks

lol i just fiqured the quality issue I used Pro Res 422 (HQ) NTSC DV. Still cant get it to squeeze down to letterbox. Any ideas?

Try creating a 4:3 sequence.

Then drop in your footage. SHOULD make it letterboxed - if not, load the footage into the viewer and change the MOTION TAB - DISTORT - ASPECT to -33.33 (or 33.33)

That should do it.

What kind of distribution are you using for the DV? Becuase if it is DVD, you should leave it in the skewed/stretched (anamorphic) format becuase DVD players will automatically deanamorphosize it and play it letterboxed if it is played on a 4:3 tv. If it is played on a widescreen 16:9 tv the DVD player will play it in the full widescreen format. If you get it to be letterboxed in the computer and write to DVD like that, it will look fine on a 4:3 tv but it will be windowboxed (a combination of letterboxing and pillarboxing) on a widescreen 16:9 tv. If you are not distributing on DVD then what I have said will not really help you.
