I shot a few projects in 24pa and later learned they may be shown on television. What is the best way to export this footage for broadcast? Do I have to export in 29.97? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I should have been more clear with the original questions (tired). It's actually two different projects:
The one with the DVD and .mov will only be used for a presentation, but they said they needed it in 29.97. I thought 23.97 should be fine, but that's what they wanted so I didn't know if it would matter...
The other project I'm not sure about, but I wanted to know what you would need to do with 24pa footage if it were to be broadcast on television. Thanks again.
You can pretty much export any timeline as anything, and Vegas will do the conversion for you. For DVD, just used the standard NTSC DVD templates (the ones for DVD Architect if you're using DVDA). For .mov, choose 29.97 as the framerate in the Quicktime 6 options.
Both will insert a 2:3 pulldown.
For TV, you'll probably be going back to mini-DV tape to take to a conversion house, so you can either print to tape as DV or 24p DV with 2:3 pulldown inserted.
