Exporting 16x9

I'm trying to export a smaller sized 16x9 movie compressed for web from a 1920 x 1080 timeline.

I'm using export quicktime conversion. How can I make a smaller sized 16x9 image while still retaining the aspect ratio. The retain aspect ratio box doesn't do the trick.

Everytime I try it squezes to 4x3, or is the full size 16x9.

thanks

854*480 will give you around SD resolution. 640*360 is smaller than that and 425*240 is smaller still. Is there a specific file size you are aiming for (i.e. it needs to be smaller than 200megs or something)?

Just choose a "custom size" and multiply by 1.78 (16/9) or so.
So instead of choosing 320x240 say, choose Custom size, and 428x240

then it should look right. Same for any other resolutions you choose.

File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion

Options

Size

Then there's a pulldown for various dimensions. From there you can either choose custom and use one of the many mentioned sizes already mentioned, or choose one of the standard 16:9 choices. The default one "Compressor Native" is crap, don't let it use that.

cheers.
