Exporting 16x9?

I'm new here guys, and heres my first post! I hope someone can help me out :)

I shot on a Sony VX2000 in 16x9 mode. I am working on a project file in Premiere 1.5 using the 16x9 settings. I am exporting using Adobe Media Encoder, MPEG1 compression. The video looks GREAT when exported and the aspect ratio is correct, but there are black bars on the top and bottom of the image when I play it back in a player. I want the video to play without black bars, so that the video players borders are hugging the video...

16x9 mpg with no black bars on top and bottom, is this possible?

Let me know if this doesnt make sense, ive got to figure this thing out

:undecided

Welcome tripleAAA, there is two things that I can think of. The first thing would be to try and crop it through Adobe Media Encoder. The other thing you can do, is open a new project with the dimensions you want, and just dump the old footage in it.
Hope this is helpful
