Exporting 16:9

I'd like to export my video to a .mov file which will be 16:9 aspect ratio. I've letterboxed my clip but when I export it, it has the two black bars, one at the top and one at the bottom. Now, what I want is a video with no bar but that will be 16:9. I tried to change the export setting to 720 x 405 to get a 16:9 image but it just modify the shape of the image and the black bars are still there.

Export with compressor
Select Preset
double Click on source media name - will pull up preview window
Click on preset name in pull down bar in preview window
Use the red frame to make your crop marks
Click on Presets Icon
There will now be one called Batch Selection in Description it will say "Copy of...whatever your preset was"
Click on Geometry, under frame size 100% of source
Whatever you crop that's what you'll get, you can even have cinescope

If you go back to the original anamorphic and export you just change the SIZE options to something that is 16:9...

pick a width divide it by 16 and multiply that by 9 for the height.

Good luck,
