Hi,(1st post btw)
i have a 10min short i shot on Hdv 1080i 24p, cut on FcP 6.0.5. The upload requirement for the contest it's for is : size; under 100mb, res: 640x480.
what would be the best settings for outputting this? I'm aware it should be mpeg4 or h.264 but i'm stuck on the details. something step by step would be appreciated.

first off, sorry if this has been discussed already, my search didn't return the exact result i'm looking for.

file > export > using quicktime conversion.
format = quicktime movie
click "options"
in video section, click "settings"
frame rate = current
keyframe every 24 frames
quality: set between high and medium
encoding = best quality
click "ok"
in video section, click "size"
set dimensions to "640x480 VGA"
click the "preserve aspect ratio" checkbox and select "letterbox"
click "ok"
in the sound section, click "settings"
set format to "AAC"
set channels to "stereo"
set rate to "44.1khz" (some players and online converters have bugs with other rates)
click "ok"

enable for streaming can be checked.

save your file. view to verify everything looks right then upload wherever it needs to go.
