exported video footage stopped after around 25 to 30 mins

Hey guys,

A very strange issue I have never had before... I shot an event over the weekend. The footage is to be edited by the client so my job was to simply convert the HPX raw footage to .mov or .mp4. So I decided to convert them to mp4 with several different files each around 1 hour long ( and some shorter ones).

The short mp4's are fine, but the longer 1 hour ones are messed up... after around 25 to 30 mins or so the footage just stopped, but the 'video' keeps playing... you can hear the audio coming through and the timer on the bottom of quicktime player keeps going, but the footage doesn't go on any more. The file size is more or less the same as what Media Encoder estimated it would be.

I checked the raw footage on my Premiere and they are all fine (thank god).

for test I re-imported the mp4 into Final Cut and see what it looks like... everything after the 25 to 30 min mark is messed up.. a frame of the last good frame in this desaturated blown out crap.

I can obviously re-export again and hope that it will be fine. But I have exported long footage out of Premiere before with no issues... so what gives? Is it because my iMac went to sleep while I was exporting after a while??

Thanks

specs: Premiere CS4, iMac quad core, HPX170 1280x720 30pN

Well it has nothing to do with the computer going to sleep mode. exported another 1 hour one and it's also messed up.

I then exported a shorter one from after the 30 min mark and its fine. So I guess it is a length or file size issue.
