Export Uncompressed... Turns out Compressed?

I've just been fiddling around with masks with two avi's in ae and when I try to export to an uncompressed avi quality 100 (best) ... it comes out looking horrible ( compressed....)

What would be the ideal way to export standard avi's out of ae cs3?

I'm aware there are other threads like this and they don't specifically give me anything i'm looking for...

HELP PLEASE :)

Probably your problem is that you are trying to export using the edit->export option, but you have to use composition->prerender or the make movie option in order to export anything from ae.
Hope that helps :)

I did that but it seems like either the bitrate is too much for my video card because its not playing at real time or it didn't export correctly. What should have happened?

The bitrate has nothing to do with your video card. With an uncompressed avi, you are looking at either 24 or 30 full frames per second. An uncompresed frame of DV is usually around 1.1 megs. So, if you shot 60i or 30p you are trying to play back a constant, 33 (or so) megs in one second. Not counting audio, which is going to make playback even slower. You need a pretty fast hard drive to do that, especially if you are playing your fotage from the same drive you have your programs on.

My computer can play uncompressed avi's with sound, but only for about 20-30 seconds. But I also have two Raptors in a RAID of 250 gigs a piece acting as one 500 gig single drive.

Best compressor for space is Quicktime>Animation. It is lossless, but does ease up on the file size a bit.
