Export to tape w/ HVX200

Hi everyone, I am desperately trying to export to tape a film I made for a 48 hour challenge. I have tried reading tutorials, but no luck. I am on Premiere CS4 with an HVX200. The export to tape menu button is greyed out.

Do I need to be connected via USB, or firewire?
should I be in PC mode, or record mode?

I am clueless, and have been trying for hours.

On the HVX, set the recording media switch to "Tape". Connect the camera to the computer using Firewire. Push the mode button to switch from Camera mode to Dub mode.

In PPro, click the Output button in the Program Monitor's row of buttons; it's the one in the top row on the far right that looks like three circles, sort of like a Venn diagram. Once you click it, select "Playback Settings". In the window that appears, set the External Device for the Export settings to your DV device; hit OK. Export to Tape will now be active from the File > Export > Export to Tape option.
