First problem I've had with premire.

I need to export to tape but when I export my footage my audio skips but the video exports over just fine.

This is only happening during tape export, DVD, MOVIE export are working. I need this completed for a project

I'm using a minidv deck.

Thank you
Ismael

I don't think the fact that you are using a miniDV deck is relevant. If the audio processing is taxing, then this could be the cause. There is a fairly easy fix you could try. Just export the entire project to a new .avi. Then verify that it is fine (no audio skipping problems), assuming that it is, then start a new Premier project and just import this .avi into the timeline. Now you should be able to export the project without any issues.

Good luck!

khmuse is right on. Premiere uses a ton of system resources to output the timeline back through firewire and even if you've rendered the timeline, you could experience some audio skipping.

Best thing to do is exactly what khmuse suggest and always make sure you aren't running any other programs. If you go to the Where Else To Put This page on Steven Gotz website http://www.stevengotz.com/miscellaneous.htm you can find a link that really helps you to understand how to shut down a bunch of applications that might be running on your system, but that you don't need right now. Check it out.

Maybe I've missed something, but is there an advantage to the 'export to tape command'?

What is the difference from just starting the deck and whacking the spacebar? :-)

Wade, you haven't missed anything. All the 'export to tape' command does is start your record deck and begin recording precisely when the video feed runs through the firewire. I never use it, instead opting to go with the 'whacking the spacebar' like you. But, either way, you can get audio drop-outs as the cpu (or ram) tried to keep up.
