Two ways... set up your cam in VTR mode and do a "crash" record directly from the timeline. You'll need to press record on the camera. Or use print to video option where you can tell FCP to start your camera for you.
Go ahead and read up in the manual about exporting to tape. As for the DVX... it shouldn't matter as you are just copying bits and bytes... not capturing images.
I tried the second method (print to video) but it doesn't work. The firewire is set, the dvx is on VCR. When I do print to video, the screen of my computer becomes black and the video plays but it does't appear in my dvx. It a blue screen....
i'm sorry but nothing of that correct my problem. When I click on print to video, sometime they told me to try to turn off unlimite RT (which is already off), get a better hard disk on memory ( I have a G5 1G RAM and 160 Gig of hard disk which is almost empty). Sometimes, it records in the dvx but it's only black screen. But in the computer's screen, I see the video.
My project is a 24P Advance clip of about 16sec.
I think my setting for video/audio setting are good (24fps) and set to DV NTSC 48kHz - 24 everywhere exept on capture preset which I set it to DV NTSC 45 kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown Removal
The video playback is set to Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480)
The only place i'm not is device control presets should I select FireWire NTSC, FireWire NTSC Basic (FireWire using the Apple FireWire Basic Protocol), or the FireWire NDF (Non-Drop Frame source) because some times they told my that frames were dropped???
Make sure that the project settings are in 23.98, NOT straight 24fps, this might have something to do with it. Whent the play head is on a clip, does that frame show up in the camera?
