Export To Dvd Settings ?

I have PP2....exporting 29.9, 16x9 movie

I want to use PP2's "export to DVD" function. For best quality, should I use the 7mb constant 1 pass, ...or the 4mb, varible ,2 pass?

There is no 7mb,varible 2 pass preset that I can find....??

Thanks,
Jeff

The point of 2 passes is to reduce the size of the file while keeping image quality the same (relatively). Depends on how long the clip is. If it's not that long, just choose constant 1 pass and crank the target bitrate all the way up, this will be nearly lossless compression but a huge file size (hopefully under 4 GB for a single DVD). But if it's a long sequence then you should go with 2 passes and play with the target bitrate until it almost reaches the DVD limit.

questions:

(Using PP2, single-sided DVDs and experimenting with the bit rate. I make an ISO image first.)

Should I "export to ISO image file" directly from the timeline or make a movie first?

Is there a way to select the "bit rate" and see if that bit rate will allow the movie to "fit" on my DVD "before burning"?.......instead of "wasting" a DVD to find out the file is too big.

PP2 export to DVD...does not create a menu. What do you use to create the menus?

Hope Im clear........it early morning.

Thanks,
Jeff

Im intrested in this topic also, atm I export to dvd with a disk in the drive ,usually i set it to 7mb 1 pass (i think) to see if it fits,
if it dosnt usually I change the audio from pcm to mpg? (sorry its late and I'm drinking JD) once I know it will fit I change it to iso,
to create the menu I go to the drop down for creating dvds with templates,
is there a certain bitrate to set it to for best results when ur only creating a 5/10 min dvd? usually its 1.02?

Russ....
thanks for the tip pcm to mpg....havent tried that.

I wind up using 7.0-8.0 for a 30-45 min DVD. You should be able to go higher with only 5/10 mins.

I like the ISO features....I usually print a lot of DVDs.

Best regards,
Jeff
