Export short back to mini-DV

Hi all !

Finished my short (dvx footage) in premiere pro 1.5 and want to export it to mini-DV. Can anyone tell me the right settings and give me some tips for the best results? My aim is to get a screening copy mini-DV (that can be copied later also to a screening copy DV-cam and BETA SP).

Thanks!

Dave

Export to Tape from the Export Menu

This should bring up a dialogue box which is fairly simple and intuitive.

This assumes the PC can see your destination DV deck/camera rec. device

I always prestripe my Destination tape ( at least the start of it anyway) so I can set an inpoint for the export. YOu do not want to record right to the head of the tape so usually I go in on 00:00:30:00

Thanks for your help! Did you get good results exporting to the DVX-camera? Or is that not possible? (I have rented one for this production but want to buy ons soon).

I usually just record straight off the timeline. If your capture cam or deck is hooked up and Premiere is set to output to external device...you can just press record on your deck and press play in Premiere.

You can export to the DVX. But I would recommend buying a cheap mini-dv camera to use as a capture deck. Same quality and no wear on your DVX heads.

It works just fine. As Sacksnack said, though, I'd recommend using a cheapo cam, or get yourself an edit deck. Of course, since you're renting, it won't matter at all.
