Export Quicktime Conversion or Just Quicktime?

Quick question, why does it take much longer to export to straight quicktime , than if I choose "quicktime conversion" during export.....even if the compressions settings are exactly the same? For this particular piece, I am exporting using the animation codec.


Any thoughts?

Are you producing a Self contained movie or a Reference movie?
Are the Sequence Settings "Animation" for your Sequence you're working on?

A Reference movie will export much faster than a self contained movie since the original footage is already on the drives. Basically, all you're doing is writing a QT movie "pointer file" to those files already in your Capture Scratch and Render files folder along with Uncompressed audio.
