I shoot 24p letterbox
and create a widescreen project
when I export the clips the final footage is all jittery and stroby
how can I fix this?

help please

Did you shoot 24p or 24pa?

Is your timeline a 29.97 or 23.976 one?

Did you use proper camera handling techniques for a progressive 24 fps project?

What kh meant was... did you do all kinds of wild pans and zooms without actually following the subject? Do you have Barry's book? It explains it very well on the DVD that came with the book.

I had this issue b4 but what I used 2 do was
apply any affect to the clips, anything that would require rendering,
then render and export, and it plays just fine
but I don't think I should HAVE 2 do this all the time
but if I just take clips and line'em up and export it's al crappy
I whish I could upload something but they're huge right now

Can you explain what it looks like or even better, post a clip? It's hard to guess what's going wrong without seeing what the problem is.

A really short clip that illustrates your issue would be most helpful. Was there a specific reason that you shot 24pn as opposed to 24pa when you were going to be editing with Premiere Pro in a 23.976 fps timeline?

I shot F5 just 'cos when I create a new PPRO 1.5 project it says compatible with the DVX100 chot on 24p OR 24pa
I'm gonna start compressing it right now,

In the future, use F6, the 24pa mode if you're going to edit in Premiere. It provides you with slightly less compression loss on your full frames because of the way it distributes them over 60 fields.

As for the jitteriness, it's possible that it's just due to you trying to watch interlaced footage on a progressive monitor (your computer screen). Export your scene to tape (load up the exported avi file on a timeline if you really want to see for sure), and watch it off of your DVX on a TV.

The only jitteriness I see is caused by your quick pans and quick shaky handheld zooms.
Put the camera on a tripod, stop making random quick zooms/pans, and shoot using 24PA as overnight reccomended and you shouldn't have any problems.
That and make sure you use scene detect to capture your footage.

After you exported, what did you play the clip back on. I noticed something like this on Windows media player but not on real player. Still can't figure this out. dvxwheelr
