Export OMF from FCP

Does anyone know how to export an OMF from FCP with all of the volume/pan information WITHOUT using the Automatic Duck plug in?

It's VERY easy to export OMFs, although it's been a very long time since I've use this function. File > Export > Audio to OMF. I assume that's what you're looking for?

If you want to go to AVID, Automatic Duck is your only option. And it works very well!

If you just want audio, BenB is absolutlely right.

FCP doesnt export OMF with volume information. I was trying to avoid buying the expensive plug in if there was an alternative. I did all my sound design in FCP and have to get it to an audio mixer with Pro tools without having to have him redo all of the volume fades and pans i did in FCP.

Then I guess it depends on your sequencer. I Punch OMF's between FCP and Cubase SX 2.2 & 3.1.1 all the time without a hitch including XF (and gain settings... Not really sure about that, as I mix in Cubase)

Don't forget that SoundTrack Pro is a pretty powerfull, fully professional film and video post sound app. Less fuss, tons of power, I use it a lot. And I did work in music studios way before I got into video. I'm actually a composer first, filmmaker second. I really don't need 90% of what a lot of sound studio apps offer. STP does so much now.

You are correct. OMF's from Final Cut do NOT include the volume information. Until (or unless) Apple chooses to include the volume metadata there's nothing you can do except automatic duck. Avid gives you both the volume and pan information in the OMF + the Video. Avid also supports AAF.
