Export MPEG2 for broadcast?

My station bought a new Dell with CS3, I have been working on Final Cut Studio 2 and will be using this new machine. But I'm not familiar with exporting in Premiere and am pretty lost right now.

Are there presets for exporting mpeg2 files for broadcast? What about centercutting HD footage?

Also can I edit XDCam footage in the HDV timeline. Or does Premiere have an XDCam timeline as well?

Set the Work Area Bar in the timeline over the section you wish to Export

File Menu>Export>Adobe Media Encoder

Set the options specific to the Station requirements. (Make it a Preset once you know it works)

You have the option for cropping in the Media Encoder in the Source tab. Sounds like you want to go from a 16:9 HD aspect to a 4:3 SD aspect? No problem--there's a "Crop Proportions" dropdown box that lets you lock your crop to a specific aspect ratio. One of the options is 4:3; you'll just have to drag the crop box to the center of the image, until the Left and Right crop settings are roughly/exactly the same.

Awesome! I can't wait to give that a try tomorrow

I haven't even played with Media Encoder, so far all I've used the machine for is AE rendering
