ok wtf is up with Cs4. There new media encoder is causing me problems. Suprise, suprise. I'm having an issue exporting a video from premiere pro.

Anyways the video is coming from premiere pro and being encoded with adobe media encoder cs4. When i set the video to flv there is no aspect to ratio option...wtf? The source video is 4:3 but the output is 1:1. This creates bars on the side of the video. If anyone knows how to remedy the aspect ratio please let me know.

I'm trying to understand adobe's reason for the aspect ratio to remain at 1:1. Anyways computer have square pixels and tv's are rectangular(or something along those line), so should all flv's for computer output be 1:1. And if so why are other codecs left with the option to change the PAR?

If it's set at square pixel then simply change the output to 720 x 540 and it'll render correctly. It's possible that flv is a web format so only square pixel is selected like you said. For other codecs it's necessary to have deliverables at the original PAR and resolution so it might not be convenient (i.e an SD 16:9 source at square pixel is 720 x 405 which will not fit into a standard widescreen SD project).

thanks for the reply. Ya I figured changing the dimensions was the way to go. I'm just not sure why adobe took this option to change the aspect ratio in cs4. Oh well. thanks again
