Hi
Id appreciate somebody explaining why the files I export in media encoder are so large ?

To give an example :

a 4 minute clip , filmed on xha1 minidv at 50 fps/1080i.

captured in ppro and edited. some use of after effects & magic bullet looks in titles etc

rendered complete project in work area , inc effects, music etc.

export media in adobe media encoder.

H.264 / PAL / 1280 X 720 / Render at max depth / square pixels / no previews / - 2 passes / 44.1 / variable bit rate 5 and 8 max.

198 MB ...!!

Thanks in advance

Andy

I was guessing it should be around 120 to 140 before I realized that you shoot at 50fps in PAL (I usually work in 30), so 198 sounds about right.

Frame size, frate rate, codec and other such attributes will have little to no impact on file size. There are only two things that really count here, bitrate and duration. How many bits per second time how many seconds.
