Export Edited MXF Raw Clips PPCS3 or?

I'm using Premier Pro CS3 and the person I send the MXF clips to is using FCP. Is there a way to send an edited raw MXF clip, or just a shorter MXF clip? Also any particular version of FCP needed to edit MXF. Thanks

I think FCP 5 and newer will work with MXF. Please note that FCP does not read MXF natively, but converts the header into quicktime and 'ingests' it. The editor will need something like raylight to read the MXF's on FCP.

I am not familiar with CS3 and cannot comment about the raw MXF output.

FCP does not require Raylight so send the mxf files to the guy with FCP.

Send the entire P2 Folder with its structure in tact.

Use Log and transfer and the mxf files will convert to quicktime files for use in FCP

CS3 Premiere can export to P2 (but I have not tried it).

Is there a reason you would not open the original mxf files directly in FCP (and maybe use an EDL to comfrom any edit you have in Premiere)

My FCP "opens" mxf files via the process of Log and Transfer as mentioned above.

There is an editor in the next room ...cutting away happily with no problems at all.

Despite that ...FCP can open and edit mxf files ( as stated - Log and Transfer) . That its not "native" per se...make should make no difference to the OP and his task.

Also - QT has some great quality codecs and should not be disregarded in certain workflows and export options. eg. ProRes and .264. Who cares what the wrapper is if you are working on a PC. which seems to work with most things thrown at it. Mac is another story!
