I have a HVX200....i shot footage 72024pn and imported into FCP via P2 import.
After finishing my movie i exported using QT DVCPRO HD - 720p24...when viewing on a 50" plasma, still looks at times pixelated...is this the correct workflow?

Thank you

How are you playing out to the plasma- what connector? Also what screen mode is the plasma in- some have some odd scaling/stretching modes. You could initially try exporting from FCP as H.264. That scales somewhat better than DVCPROHD which looks best playing out to a CRT monitor.

That's your problem most likely the DVD player's SD video is being scaled in all sorts of nasty ways to the plasma. For better results you'll want to go HDMI to the plasma and play from your computer. SD video to plasma is never going to look great especially when crunched down to DVD.

In FCP under export i do not see an option for H.264 Is that only used in QT?

Correction .... if i go under "custom" there is an option but when i use it i get a codec error....

Did you install QuickTime Pro? H.264 cannot be used for a DVD only desktop playback.

FCP installs QTPro automatically.

So the DVD format is SD, so you should be using Compressor to make MPEG-2 video and Dolby 2.0 audio files, build the DVD in DVDSP. If you leave it all up to Toast, well, Toast compression just sucks.
