Export AVI MPG?

I recently noticed that when exporting an Mpeg it increases the contrast and does not look like the preview window. The file is a lot smaller but the quality suffered. I have exported with an uncompressed AVI and get the desired result, however the file is rather large, has anyone every exprted this way and had DVDa convert the large AVI and had it come out looking the way inteneded.

I've generally found that the MPEG-2 render quality between Vegas and DVDA are identical. But experiment and see what you find.

Render it as an uncompressed .avi then recompress using DVDA, it soaks up the most of the issues,
