Experience with Ansso Gold Mount batteries runtime on HVX200/HPX170?

I want to buy a Ansso Gold Mount battery, since they are much cheaper (especially their chargers) than buying Anton Bauer ones.

I want to buy the AS-190DAN (or CAN).
If you check here:
http://www.anssotech.com/products/li-ion.htm

they say it has a battery life of 6h20min. but I believe that's a very general statement since it depends on which equipment you will power with it.

On the Anton Bauer website you can have the power consumption calculated for your camera, when I do this for the HVX200/HPX170 it says their Dionic 90 will last for 6.33 hours on either of those cameras:
http://www.antonbauer.com/HowToChoose

Since the Anton Bauer Dionic and Ansso batteries are both same technology (LiIon) I would assume that both batteries will deliver same running time, hence the Ansso AS-190 should have something like 12 hours.

Is that about right or am I totally off?

Another question, in order to power either HVX200/HPX170 I would have to buy the Anton Bauer QR-DVX adapter which is quite expensive, is there another third party adapter at a cheaper price?

Marc, you need to look at the WH rating, not at the hours, as the hours number depends on the camera used. A smaller camera would run longer on the same battery than a larger one. According to their rating in WH the AS-190 is twice as big as Dionic 90, so it would give you ~12 hours. But it is also much heavier, and you also need a 14V to 7.2V step down voltage adapter. You would be ahead if you just buy 3 5600 mah HVX batteries. Each one is about ~40wh, they fit in the battery compartment, and weight a fraction of the Gold Mount one.

Hi Alex,

thanks for your reply, I probably wrote it a little bit confusing, English is obviously not my first language :)
Yes, I'm aware I have to look at the WH.
So I was actually right, the Ansso AS-190 would give me approx 12 hours on the HVX/HPX170.

The Bauer QR-DVX I mentioned is the stepdown converter, I was only wondering if there are any cheaper ones.
I already have 2 batteries for the Panasonic and I would rather have one big capacity battery so I don't need to change batteries. It will last the whole shooting day. Weight is also not a concern because it'll be mounted on the back as counterweight.

You are welcome. We make a 7.2V DC converter also, you have to get a D-Tap cable to plug in the big battery. But it is not inexpensive either. It is listed on our site.

I just checked your site, I guess you mean the one for US$ 189. With shipping it will be what I pay for the original Anton Bauer adapter which seems to be smaller also.
You should make yours slimmer ;)

You are right, ours is a bigger:-) The reason is it is for more general use, so it takes XLR4 for power in. The XLR connectors are big.
