Excessive noise on export.

Project looks great on monitor, but gains significant noise in exported QT clip even when set to lowest compression settings.

Any ideas?

What sort of noise- small grainy, big macroblocks etc. And give us some specifics- footage format, sequence settings, export settings etc. Describe it as if we can't see your computer from here.

I seem to be having similar problems. Editing 5D footage (ProRes 422), and I get added noise when exporting a self-contained quicktime movie with current settings. Not sure if this is what Chris is experiencing - not trying to redirect thread...

Yes, 5D footage which I admit is a tad noisier than I'd like, but certainly not toast by any means. I ended up getting a very clean picture reconnecting the original H.264 media (after edit is essentially locked) and using "none" as a compressor in the sequence settings since it seemed any transcode (even Prores and even with 5DtoRGB) was increasing noise unnecessarily.

Then exporting to H.264 or MPEG4 - it looks unusable even at 100% settings (posterized banding, noise).

The best export options I've discovered are uncompressed 10 bit HD with Compressor, or the animation codec. Motion JPEG and JPEG 2000 are pretty decent options also but not as clean.

We'll see what Vimeo does with my test clip using the animation codec
