EX3 - Wait for Letus Relay Mount or go with Ultimate?

While searching through the Letus Knowledge Base articels I found this (Feb, 2008):

We're planning to purchase a new EX3 based acquisition system next week. Should I wait for the "relay mount" adaptor to come out (who knows when that will be?), or should I just go with the Ultimate and hope that Letus has an upgrade path?

The relay mount isn't an adapter. It's just an adapter to let you attach an adapter. So you would still need the Ultimate itself.

i just don't undrestand why people would buy an expensive cam with an interchangeable lens capability and then ended up using a 35mm adapter.

Those interchangeable lenses don't give you shallow DOF since the chip size is still small. Slapping an SLR lens on a camera will just result in a crop factor.

I guess the big question with a relay lens is how much light will it lose. If the net difference between a relay and the EX stock lens is only 1/3 of a stop than I don't think it's worth it. 1/2 a stop or more it begins to make sense.

Any specs or speculation on this?
