EX1R and redrock M2E question.

I am in the market for a 35mm adapter and wanted to know if any users currently have the ex1 and the redrock m2e setup I was hoping to very the 1/2 stop light loss claimed by redrock.

Any reasons to get or not to get the redrock are also welcome. I have done plenty of reading and for the price and the reviews I have read it seems to be the way to go (this is subjective of course) and the only drawback I have read is its weight.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to check out the Redrock forum for feedback on the M2e. There are a lot of reports of issues with the computer chip board and power management which regulates power to the motor and charging of the batteries.

It seems to be pretty good on light loss, and the 1/2 stop seems to be fairly accurate.

Another option is the SGBlade from Shoot35. Both are spinning adapters which is really what you want for the ability to use higher shutter speeds and be able to close down the lens without grain appearing from the screen in the adapter.

I would take all claims about 1/2 stop light loss with a grain of salt. They are all approximations and vary with the lens and the f stop of the 35mm lens. There's no way to compare them unless you have them side by side. When I bought my first Redrock almost 3 years ago it was advertised as 1/2 stop loss when in fact it was 2 1/2.

The encore is probably close to 1/2 stop or 2/3 stop as is the Letus and the Blade.

I've AC'd a couple shoots with the Encore and EX1/EX3, its beautiful and they designed a new achromat that is optimized for the off center focus of the EX series or something of the sort. Its the same one they ship out with all their adapters though now because it works with all cameras.
