At least! - having downloaded and installed the TRIAL version of Premiere CS4 - where are the presets for XDCam EX format? Did I miss anything - I thougt Premiere was supposed to edit EX1 files natively.

I'm not sure about the trial version, but i just purchased the master collection cs4 and there is a preset for ex1, avchd, mobile, etc.... but no 720 avchd only 1080i and p ..hum...(weird)

Yeah I was about to ask this very question. I can't find it in the trial version either. How am I supposed to 'trial' it , if the trial ommits the very features I want to try out. Pointless.

Just be lucky you didn't buy the month before trials came available. Reminds me of movies that don't screen for critics. Except this time the critics got beta versions weeks before release date date so when something didn't work they could right it off as being beta. In actuality we are all Beta testers (complete with crash form) until Adobe's 'service pack one' comes out. Even more disturbing is that Adobe had plans for their updates a month before they released it (one in November next one February)

Adobe's advantage is in the way the programs all work together. This has become a disadvantage because programs that aren't Flash or Photoshop get rushed out to make the package.

The trail versions don't usually support the MPEG based formats. It's not really Adobe's fault - they have to pay a royality fee for the right to use that technology, and it would be cost prohibitive to give it away in the trials.

As for XDCAM EX support with PPro, I can tell you that it's really great. Adobe does offer, if I remember correctly, a 30 day return policy...you could buy it and return it if you don't like it.

I had the same question. Here's a bit of an answer.

I had the same question. Here's a bit of an answer.

The HDV and HD support has been disabled on the trial version. I was sad because I have a new HDcam and was so excited to pop open my trial version and edit my first 1080p footage. No such luck. As for what Premiere Pro offers in the XDcam EX family, here's a link I found while searching for HD support in P Pro.

Hope this helps some.

Download the PremierePro 3.2.0 Update for XDCAM Support and Improved HDV support

Note: Updates will not install on trial versions due to license restrictions

A lot of wasted time!

A lot of wasted time!

I just wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to import my XDCAM files into the trial version of PP CS4. I have CS3 and they import fine. Adobe shoud have had an alert to that fact during the trial download. Poor thinking on their part.
