Hi...
Setting up th RedRock M2 with the EX1... no microflipx. IS there a dummy-proof config/setup guide anywhere to be recommended? a video tutorial? A bible of sweet spot cam settings? Ive spent two days tweeking/shimming/setting/testing and im not thrilled yet...image just isnt clean. All the video tutorials im finding are for the HVX and the RRm2... nothing for the EX1. I blieve ive dne everything right...shimmed the rods, set the backfocus, but im still quite soft round the edges. IM using Zeiss 50 1.4. Its soft at all f stops.
PLease Help. shooting a promo on Monday and id love to use this package.
Thanks!

I think you need a special relay lens for a camera with a 1/2 inch chip. That might be your problem.

Also with the m2 I've noticed that if u hav e the iris open all the way on the camera that if u have the iris on the lens open all the way it'll be soft so stop down to a least 2.5 also the back focus might be off so I would zoom in all the way to focus on the ground glass

All of this information is negated with Redrock's new announcements today. They released a new adapter and a new flip module that enables use with the 1/2" glass of the EX-1/3 as well as a faster adapter losing only half a stop of light.

so then...this is an ex1/red rock problem. not necessarilty something im doing wrong?
Yes im zoomed to 68 on lens. Yes, I see the grain of the screen when setting backfocus.

until rredmicro releases the ex1 thing you mentioned as a press release, im out of luck with the ex1/rrm2 combo?

so...if i set this up with my hvx200, all should be clean and sharp? I also have the step ring for the hvx..and should be able to reconfigure. client asked for ex1, so im trying to make ex1 work... but if the bottom line is the ex1 and rrmicro dont play well together, then ill stop wasting my time. is that the verdict?

You are correct sir.

The new M2 Encore which was announced today after you started your thread would fix your problem and and upgrade would cost $545 for you sir.

HVX200 should be good to go.

Yup that's correct. They're EX-1 microX is already available. It works with both 1/2 and 1/3 inch cameras. So I'd say call up Redrock and see if you could exchange it or get a discount on the new one.
