Evil Dead remake (2013)

The new trailer actually makes me want to see it a bit, looks like the film actually has some balls. When I first heard of this I was ready to **** all over on it....but I think I'll give this one a fair chance.

Don't want to see it because it just going to be just like every horror film that is made to day filled with blood and gore and unnecessary nude scenes.

every horror film that is made to day filled with blood and gore and unnecessary nude scenes.

You just defined "horror" as it has existed since the mid-'70s. Oddly enough, the complaint in the '90s was that horror didn't have enough of these things, because the filmmakers didn't have the guts to do it like they did in the '70s and '80s.

hmmmm ... that trailer was a lot better than I expected. But jeez what a tall order ...remaking one of the best horror films ever made.

And not just a 'best horror', it was a ground breaking film in its own right for its techniques and angles.

Horror movies in the 70s barley had any blood or gore at all, Halloween had no blood at all it wasn't until the 80s when horror films started to make movies with tons of blood and gore, Friday the 13th is what started it. Horror is about blood is about scaring the viewer and Alfred Hitchcock is a perfect example of a director who could make a scene suspenseful and scary with out adding tons of blood and gore, look at the shower scene is Psycho that is a perfect example.

Friday the 13th was 1980 (made in 1979), but that's the point -- horror was blood and gore and gratuitous nudity by definition 30 years ago. (Noto mention '70s movies like Carrie and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.)

Hitchcock didn't make many horror films; usually only Psycho and The Birds make that list, and their content (or implied content) was as much driven by the times as it was Hitchcock's mastery. If he were active today, his films give every indication he'd be pushing envelopes.

Psycho is considered to be the first slasher movie, it wasn't until Halloween when the slasher got really popular this is all in a documentary called Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher genre. A lot Hitchcock's movies are not horror but they still scared people because of the suspense he used.

And if he were active today, he'd be using a lot more blood. You can tell this from his films. You can tell what he wanted to do, but couldn't, and implied it -- or slipped it under the radar.

I don't think he would, the reason he made Psycho is black and white was because it would have been too gory, it could have easily been made in color.

Because of the sensibilities and censor practices of the time, yes. He would not have those constraints today.

I've watched the trailer again. They seem to be going for a more "serious" horror than the original comedic tone.

I'll wait for it.

Nude scenes unnecessary? Surely you jest. And yes, I did just call you surely.

The trailer looks good. I'm surprised they went for horror instead of campy, so I'm really excited to see this one.

"The more I think about it, this is nothing more than a way to profit off a younger generation, one thats likely never heard of evil dead, they will go watch and think it's an original film with awesome cgi. haha"

Why would that be a bad thing in any way at all? Movies are supposed to entertain people. If some young people are entertained, that's a good thing!

As a horror fan I like all styles of horror any of them can be done well or poorly depends on how you do it

I think the success of Drag Me To Hell showed that Raimis campy style can still also be scary and satisfy modern audiences

the evil dead remake does look better than we all expected tho right

I have looked at the one of the newer thrillers and it does look like it could be a pretty good horror film. And yes nude scenes can be unnecessary, you don't to have one pretty much every scene like the Friday the 13th movies. Also if they stay away from a lot of CGI and use make-up this could be a great horror film.
