EVF's modded for comp/av output ?

Hi. Can anyone describe/illustrate how to modify an Electronic View Finder's cable (ie: old eng cam) so it can be plugged into the composite/av output of a smaller camera (eg: Canon HV20)?

What are the technical aspects of achieving this?
Most old/new viewfinders have 'interesting' looking cables with multiple pins. I don't think there is a simple transformer, is there?

I have seen the posts on people actually doing this, but haven't found any details. Just photos with awesome rigs with big viewfinders... that I want :dankk2:

P+S Technik makes a breakout box that lets you use Sony viewfinders but it's about $2000. I have seen a few do-it-yourself versions that look great but I haven't found anyone willing/able to do it for others.

Since one guy from Austria wanted 500€ for modificartion of sony EVF, I went to try it out on myself.. I used 12v, and a diagram..and needed like 15 minutes to find the right pins.. I exposed "wrong" pins for a short time of several seconds with 12V..and nothing happened.. I paid 40€ for old viewfinder, so I took a risk..

Yes, $2000 could go towards a camera with a larger viewfinder so DIY seems to be the path I'll take. Thanks Marco.

Interesting. I guess I need some old viewfinders that don't cost me too much $ to 'trial' it out on. Thanks for the link.
I Didn't notice the DIY section, probably should have posted there, but cheers, I got some responses anyway :)
