Everything dies!

Everything falls apart!
I read lots of book on lighting, short tutorials, threads in forums, make notes, watched techniques in films...everthing seemed to be right if I do them right.
But what I get when trying them as what I thought is right, just got me wrongs!
I'm bouncing lights but there's no shadow as I expected...
Lights are not as I expected even if I do them simple and clean...
It seems to me that I have no control over what I'm doing...
I didn't expect so much difference between theorized writings and practical work.
Is this what I should expect of first attempts?
Will things get better if I do films more and more?
Is it that much complicated?
Is everything out of control?
I'm so disappointed at myself...

things will rarely go as planned and yes it is that complicated. What will help is more people and more time.

Yes, one of the most important things to remember is that this is a PROCESS. It takes time, practice and lots of mistake. Keep trying to apply what you read and see. Then try again.

Nobody gets this stuff overnight.

Find an opportunity to work with some professionals (DP's and Gaffers). You will learn more from them in a 10 hour day than you will in a years worth of books and websites.

Yes this is normal. you have to learn to predict the way the light will fall. only practice will allow that.

Everything dies!

It's time to take your place in the Circle of Life, Sepand.

Yeah if you read everything first and then do, you'll just be overwhelmed. Better to mess with stuff first, read and learn how to make it better, and then continue pressing forward while reading + doing at the same time...

That said, you already read first... so at least you have a lot of knowledge. But you've got a LOT of doing to catch up on! Yes everything will get better as you do. It will all just begin to make sense intuitevly and become more than head knowledge...

Thanks guys, your replies made a tiny pixel of hope in my heart...
At least now I'm not just an observer in the circle of life!
And by the way...today's work was a bit better.
And why the hell I didn't think of renting cheap lights months before?! I rented 3 red heads for just the price of a cup of coffee today...!
