Re: Everyone Read... we need to tone it down a bit
uhmmm.. why not an un moderated section.. Enter at your own risk.. Where people can pin their heart on their sleeve and leave their lil' feelings at the door?? That way there will be no more wailing and gnashing of teeth when our wittle fweelings get hurt....
We wont have to worry about cowardice and those attempting to undermine our standing with the moderators or the board in general by covert complaints to such.. When our accusers hide from us its frustrating and un professional as well..

With all due respect, you two would waste five pages of a thread trying to argue what toppings to order on your pizza. :
I just think that the issue is adult discussion. Either you can do it, or you cannot. If you can't, don't even start a discussion. If you can, do, and follow the rules of netiquette.
I am a bit worried that I will get into a discussion on how you moderate storyline in documentary and have some kid come in and say, "blank you all, you all are pussies and I hate you." And then we can never talk about that subject again for fear of a goon who can't handle the subject. Then we discuss how to get interviews from difficult people and the same goon, now knowing that he can close down any discussion he sees fit, says the same thing, and BAM! Discussion closed.
I have worked with forums for years, and can tell you that I have seen forums die because they gave that sort of power to people who were unable to handle adult conversations. I have not yet taken part in a political conversation here, and do not plan to, but I do want to talk about documentary filmmaking.

Very bad idea, since the same person who has problem there will take it outside.

Sorry, I only intended to post a discussion of netiquette, not start a conflict.
Re: Everyone Read... we need to tone it down a bit

Occasional posts are ok as long as they're not offensive, but please don't abuse the open nature of the board. Thanks.
I don't visit the Cafe very often, but it's been my experience:
1) Many people are entirely too sensitive about something...
2) I have yet to see any political comments that actually change anybody's views, so they really are fruitless at best...
It takes enough time just reading and responding to posts actually about the DVX or production... or is it just me?
Re: Everyone Read... we need to tone it down a bit
No, it's not just you. I totally agree. There are plenty of forums out there for political, sexual, or other wildly off-topic subjects, and some of them are completely unmoderated and users can go there and say whatever they want, however they want.
For DVXUser to continue to grow and serve its core community, which is people who want to discuss the DVX and its applicability in filmmaking and video shooting, we should try to concentrate on the core subjects. Occasional OT stuff is fine and makes the forum fun, but long-running threads about arguing politics really doesn't serve the core purpose here, and (like you said) it's not going to change anyone's mind anyway, so why bother here? Those discussions can take place on other forums, let's keep our eye on the goal here and keep DVXUser about DVX-related subjects.
Re: Everyone Read... we need to tone it down a bit
Wax works fine, but its no AE.. no shake.. in fact the reason its not talked about much is because its not that powerful compared to any regular compositor you can buy..albiet cheaper. but anyway .. it should probably be discussed in another thread, as this one is dedicated to forum etiquette, and behavior.
